Yes it has worked well. No fan on it. 40K miles on it and only regular maintenance. LOVIN IT!!!
Owner reviews for intercooler
I don't understand how the upgraded intercooler is making the car actually faster? I understand keeping temps more stable or even cooler with more boost helping to preventing heat soak, Resulting in more consistent power but how is the motor actually making more power in already cool (ideal) conditions?
After much debate, I ended up going with the Wagner. Install was pretty easy and it feels very good on the car. The stock IC was def. choking the car with the increased boost. Temps seem more consistent after back to back runs, although not as close to ambient as I had anticipated they would be.
The wife's TDi died a couple of times on her just after she left the parking garage at work... It was deemed to be a small amount of water that had gotten into the intercooler that was sloshing around & would coincidently block the port, a check valve & new intercooler were the fix.
Made power easily with a tune, exhaust, and intercooler.

for weight it's hard to beat the wagner ic since it's the only tube/fin product out there right now. everything else is bar/plate which is a fair bit heavier.
I chose the APR intercooler to replace my current intercooler setup (OEM intercooler with add-on Forge Twincooler). I have to say, after seeing pictures of the APR intercooler online then finally holding it in person, this thing is massive.
We did a little cold weather testing the other morning to see what the intercooler could do during back to back pulls as charge air temperature rises. Over 6 pulls, no cool down, 93 octane and the production software. Each pull was actually higher than what we advertise to the wheels. Needless to say, the car feels good.
Now on a separate note I decided to put a Golf R intercooler in the car this weekend.
