Using the [Costco Torin 3 ton jack](https://www.costco.ca/torin-3-ton-aluminum-hybrid-jack-with-suv-adapter-and-foot-pedal.product.100746909.html) with absolutely no issues. Has an attachment for more height for my wifes CX5 and when removed, fits underneath my GTI without issues.
Had one that came with my 84 VW Jetta. Easiest jack to use to change a tire. Can be dangerous if not used correctly though. But that's the same with all jacks.
The spare fit with no issue, but the jack was the same one shown by the OP and the threaded rod interfered with the side skirt on the front. So I took the jack out of my wife's Jetta and it worked perfectly (and is a lot less scary).
IMO, I wouldn't get the OEM jack. I've tried using mine several times and it leans like crazy even on flat, level concrete.
Those jacks are straight up dangerous. VW had them for a while too. The only time Ive had a car slip off a jack was my wifes VW UP! On one of these. Even a lightweight super compact like the UP! Was swaying around like crazy. I couldnt even imagine lifting something heavier like an MB.
My friend bought a new craftsman a few years ago, and the first time he used it the frame exploded on him and the car fell. Luckily he was just jacking it up so he wasn't under it, but it's scary considering people usually trust craftsman stuff. It's apparently gone downhill.
I have had both the audi jack and the vw jack give out on me. I recently purchased a portable 2 ton jack from sears for $26 (on sale) - it comes with a case and is MUCH more stable than any OEM jack.
Bimmer also use same kind of jack... I think most Germany jack suck!
I put my dub on jackstands and was doing the brakes I just got the front passenger side wheel off and for some reason layed it up the suspension right there underneath the rotor and fender. well i was work with the brakes and the factory jack just collapsed on itself.
Stock VW jack is worth jack! Its dangerous to use as many of us in this and other forums have had the jack collapse.
