Been using these since I got this car 3 years ago.
Owner reviews for oil filter
Actually, I can do it myself for less than half of that. I usually pickup 6 quarts of Mobil 1 at Costco for $25.99, and an OEM Motorcraft filter at Walmart for $3.95. For less than $30, I have a complete synthetic oil change.
what I used on my old car from after the warranty ended to 215,000 miles (the last oil change before buying a new car)? Shell Rotella T6 or Chevron Delo 400 LE 5w40, which ever was cheaper at WalMart (or in stock), combined with a FRAM filter (back when it was made in Germany), then later the genuine Mann filter.
I have used both on our 1.8T and my GTI without any issues.
I'm running a Wix XP, probably the best money could by.
Replaced: oil filter (fram), oil 0-40w Outcome: Compression was restored and car started, loud valve train noise gone.
I go for K&N. No complaints. Also, they have that nut on the end, so you can wrench it off.
I'm not sure if the Mobil One Oil Filter is the best synthetic oil filter, but it is probably much better than the cheap Napa filter.
Nope,VW never ran an external filter of any kind on an aircooled bug, that's a locally sourced aftermarket EMPI product, and it may be contributing to your higher pressure reading.
The good news is that the Dodge dealer I got it from changed the oil & filter; the bad news is that they used basic Valvoline and a Fram filter.
