Since Iridium is tough, and there is platinum at the tip of the movable electrode, I bought Bosch Iridium.
Owner reviews for spark plug
Oh and I missed on letter on the spark plug it's BKR6EOUP. It's a NGK "R" type.
I ended up swapping coils/ICM and put new correct plugs in, and now it runs waaaay better.
I have NGK double plat and they have been great. Over 10k miles. Just put some in my girlfriends 2.5 jetta as well with no issues.
Use the NGKs OP uses with factory gap. All stock apart from Stage1 Superchips tune now on 95RON. No issues 'cept consumption's falling now cooler temps are here (46\u00baF yesterday afternoon SE London) from 40+ on lightfoot long run to 36MPG same motorway run
I changed the spark plugs to Autolite Double Plat plugs from Autozone. The smoke cleared up and it is MUCH easier to keep cranked in the cold (30's F) in the morning. It still has a very light stumble every few cycles and a louder engine idle than I'd like, but runs good and seems to be much better.
Try champion part number 7989 it's one solid piece not 2 like motorcraft I've had good luck with them
So far we have; Changed to new spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor and the distributor is not leaking oil, tried two different sets of spark plugs Bosch F6DTC and NGK/RIDIUM BKR6EIX.
If you use anything but OEM plugs in a stock white block, well just don't do that. Also Bosch Platinum, great for having to pull your head and find out what the center of the plug did to your engine
I've been running these plugs for over a year and a half and hate em, I guess when I got them I wanted new fresh plugs for a hot climate but should have taken them out immediately as there was noticeable power loss. I'm looking to go back to stock now as the car really ran much better. This is an unmodded 08 gti.
