Battery Bosch or OEM Subaru
with the auto start/stop eliminator installed after 1 year of ownership (using the auto start/stop feature the first 6 months and manually disabling it the last 6 months), my 2019’s battery lasted 5 years and 160k km before it started feeling weak and was replaced as a precaution.
I will second a class 3 Bosch. I have one in a hilly city that absolutely rocks the steeps and has a great battery life. Going on 2 years strong and I've had zero battery issues. It rains a lot here but no problems with the Shimano drivetrain either, just regular maintenance.
My 2021 with 84k miles was very similar. Even had the auto start fail to restart the car once when it was cold. I just had the battery replaced with the new larger size one and it made a huge difference.
Replaced original battery at 93,000 miles. I live in Detroit. Cold winters. I guess I got lucky.
My 7.5 yr old Forester is still on the original battery. I did need a jump a couple weeks ago after sitting with the lights on for a half hour, which was weird, but it's been fine since
The Bosch has slightly lower Cold Cranking Amps at 330 vs the Yuasa at 360. Also Bosch has 4 yr warranty vs Yuasa 5yr.
I will not trust having a Subaru battery in my Subaru cars, I only buy Walmart, Costco or Interstate.
First battery lasted about a year and a half.
The only issue I had with any of them were the shitty batteries in the first two.
A few hours later he came back with a new S4 018 Bosch battery (original one was Yuasa HSB056). He assured me it had the same specs, despite being a different brand (40Ah, 12V). He installed it, and then told me it was a “slightly different base size” from the old one.
