Battery Exide or Duracell
I just purchased an Exide battery at Home Depot yesterday for my 2002 Jetta Wagon. It was only $109.99.....about $50 less expensive than anything comparable in any of the big 4 parts stores, locally. It also has the best warranty of all of them (3 year replacement).
OK so today I picked up a battery from EuroCarParts, not a pukka VW one but a 100AH Exide Premium one with 5 year warranty. I've had good luck with Exide before so I was happy to go with it
Standard sealed lead acid batteries from duracell will work great for several years.
AGM power supply/comfort battery replaced. Overall it went without a hitch. I had the choice of an Exide or a Varta AGM from Tayna Baatteries. The Exide with a price discount was about \u00a310 cheaper than the Varta, so I chose that one at \u00a3133 delivered.
Next battery I am going to put in my Passat is going to be something made by Exide . I mentioned before that I changed my OE battery in the winter 2007-2008, was concerned with low temperatures of this winter, but battery seems to do very well, started at 9*F and still work without a problem.
I just got a new 47-36 battery made by Exide. The vent tube routes as Dr. Bob describes, and the clamps fit perfectly. My only issue with the new battery is that the vent caps are way at the back and may be hard to reach.
You were right in saying the battery was weak. More or less the battery was beat like a baby seal, so I replaced it with a preimum Exide unit
installed new Exide EK950 AGM 95AH to replace same model been there 3years. No change, and also former battery checks to be in nearly new condition still with measured 90AH capacity from fully charged to 10,5v 9hours with 10Amp load.
My Tiguan factory battery was an Exide and it failed after 2 years, mostly in the Northeast US weather.
So ever since I put subwoofers in my car they seem to be killing my batteries. My original battery lasted about 2 years (car was barely used for these 2 years), battery after that lasted a year (replaced last summer), and now it seems as if my current battery is going. I wanted to grab food before going to work yesterday so I got some food at Mcdonalds and sat in my car for 20-30 mins eating and listening to music. I went to fill my car up with gas after work (gas station not even a mile away) and the car barely started, normally it turns over very quickly, you could tell the car was REALLY struggling due to battery (everything dimmed as well). This was at night so my headlights were on while I was filling up. At the beginning of summer I went to a drive-in and was able to watch an entire movie without my battery dying. The battery is a Duracell with 725 CCA and 890 CA @ 32F
