Battery OEM Mazda or OPTIMA
spend the $100 on an optima its well worth it
Optima Yellow Top. You can play the stero (amp/sub) all day and the car still starts. I've done it
Optima Orange Top.
I would say if you have problems with lights dimming and stuff when you are using ur electrical accessories, then get an Optima battery, also if you have a sound system in your car I'd recommend an Optima
optima red top fits fine in my 87gti, cut some plastic stuff to fit underneath so it would hold a little tighter, there were a few mm of space between the lip on the battery and the metal lip that is supposed to secure it.
NC-GTI, I haven't been in a VW since my '82 Rabbit back in the mid 80's but a good friend who's owned a Corrado, Rabbit, Fox, Jetta and now a GTI has had too many battery failures and his recommendation of the Optima battery is just some good info I'm passing along.
I just popped the plastic bottom edge off the factory battery and put it on a new replacement one from Autozone for something like $69. Same size and fit and post placement as factory Varta but made by Johnson Controls (I think). I personally would not buy another Optima. In the four-wheeler world, I've heard many complaints of premature failures. I've used red-tops as well as yellow-tops in my Land Rover and had to have them warranteed within 2 years of purchase due to sudden failures.
FYI... My first red top didn't last very long because I don't drive my car much. The car would sit so long that it would drain the battery, and so I was constinantly recharging it which is apparently not good for the battery.
