Battery OPTIMA or Duralast
I've been running a redtop in my Outback for 8 years now. Still shows no signs of slowing down. Will be getting another one for sure.
2 weeks ago, I brought in a totally dead, 16 month old Duralast battery to Autozone. The girl threw some meter thing on the battery, saw that it was bad, and swapped it out for a brand new one.
Went with an Optima at Wal-Mart. $100, no issues.
Yellow Top Optima Battery. Used them since they're a deep cell battery and wont die when they're drained 150%. Something about how the seat belts sucked the life out of it after sitting for two days. Euro belts fixed that issue. They have a two year 100% over the counter replacement warranty at any of their retailers (yellow top). In '95 had a bad alternator overcharge the battery and leaked acid on the intercooler tubes. Since then I've relocated it to the trunk and had an Optima. If there wasn't a sealed battery when the car was rear ended it would of spilled the acid all over the trunk. The impact did kill the Yellow top by separating the conductors internally. Insurance refused to pay for it, but after the receipt was found it had 2 Mo left on the full warranty. So, safety, warranty, performance and longevity for about 30% more than a normal battery.
Get an Optima Yellowtop 35 and be done with it, that's what I replaced my OEM battery with an loved it
Threw a redtop Optima in mine...3yr warranty...no issues
I put my optima in with no issues
I had numerous Optima batteries in my car for about 12 years and the only reason I kept going with them was because they replaced it under warranty every time they went bad.
I go for the best, Optima Yellow Top group size 35 from Johnson Controls. I have owned them before, loved their batteries, a lot of In car Electronics, lights, Sound systems. I prefer Optima Yellow Tops. I installed the new battery, idle issue went away instantly. Driving home that night from work, fire started shooting out from under the hood scoop. Both the fire department and insurance company stated the fire started from the acid in the battery, originating from a single point on the battery. Wiring harness and vacuum lines were toast. Insurance company declared it a total loss.
These Optima batteries are crap. Junk. The new battery that i have had for a year now installed in my EOS (that replaced the batteries that were left continually connected to the optimate charger) were tested at Advantage auto parts today and the tester said they only had 180 CCA out of the 750CCA that the battery is rated at. WTF-- JUNK !! I am so frustrated with tis Optima JUNK.
