Battery OPTIMA or ODYSSEY
I had an Optima battery in my 2006 WRX for about 7 or 8 years before deciding to replace it with another Opitima battery. I ran that second Optima battery for about 5 or 6 years before trading in the vehicle towards a 2021 WRX. The OEM battery may end up turning over just fine when the temperature is -20F'ish, but Optima batteries have never let me down in the past.
Bought the Optima, not yet installed. Have had good luck with them, 5 yrs or more each,
With winter coming, I bought an odyssey extreme battery for my 2017. I’m not going to risk it.
My last experience from them was a yellow top from 2015 that I got for my '01 Mustang. Had it for 4+ years starting up just fine and survived despite having been drained dead 5 times or so. Sold the car before the battery died.
I have one of these and its been perfect for 5 years with a 700watt sound system on a v8 truck.
I had one. It lasted a good seven years. Still good quality, its worth it if you can swing the price.
The yellow top is what I have in my car and there is one issue I have with it, the amp hour rating. The yellow top is only 38a/h where the OEM is about 45a/h. This will lead to the inverter using a lot of energy charging the 12v battery and decrease fuel efficiency.
Purchased one a few years ago, bad a year later and yes I have a good battery tender.
The "new" Optima in my RX7 died after a very short life
Optimas are garbage. Mine didn't survive a 3 month work assignment. The battery was less than 2 years old, and fully charged when I left. Dead when I came back. Blew up like a football when I tried to charge it.
