Battery OPTIMA or ODYSSEY
I've been using a blue optima for about 6 years now and still going strong... Yes yes I know its for marine applications
I used to have a red top optima in my race truck for vibration reasons but for this car I wanted something that would run the compressors (if needed) subs, etc.... while the car wasn't running and still have the balls to kick the motor over for a start. That is why I went with the yellow top, kinda like a deep cycle for your car. You can drain the hell outta it and it will still start your car for you. That and it last two times longer than your conventional battery.
optimas are good. thats what i use
Im running an Odyssey battery in my Corrado. Its new to me so I cant give long term feedback on the battery. But the battery doesnt have any lips on the bottom so it doesnt mount into the stock battery spot. Im still trying to figure out a way to mount it properly. Personally it cranked my car up faster then my old optima ever did. I like it and its got a 3 year warranty.
Same here. Mine is about half the size as Tachy's. Have mine in the spare tire well. No problems, other than giving it a charge when the car sits. I run a 400w amp too.
I have this one (or one very similar to it; forgot the model #). I have a metal sleeve/box that is slides into that is bolted down. Had it for over 3 years and it's still going strong.
optima blue tops are marine-think of blue water and yellow are deep cycle 2] having the ground LARGER than the power is ALWAYS better in terms of car audio- electrons move negitive to postive , if my amp takes a 4 gauge wire for power the ground gets a 2 guage, this alone has gotten rid of some of my dimming
have an optima red top it starts the car at -40 weather no problem, only catch is if you kill it the batt will never be the same iv gone through 2 so far in the last 2 years but with 10 year or more warranty who cares.
they used to be good but over the last 5 years or so they have dropped in quality. I have purchased 3 red tops and 4 yellow tops for customers and each one failed prematurely.
I compared the dimensions of both batteries (stock vs Optima) and the Optima is shorter, skinnier, but like 1/4 wider. Optima did not fit, or would not fit without modification to the positive terminal. Ordered the OEM from Keffer.
