Brake caliper Girling or OEM Audi
Best brake mod for the buck, with this car. Did it on both my VR6 and G60! Tremendously improved brake feel, reduced fade, and decreased stopping distance.
Put on G60's and stopping questioning yourself. Now that mine are finally broken-in the pedal is like a hair trigger that kicks off the ABS at highway speeds
First of all, you can run the G60 (Girling 54) fronts with rear disk on a 20mm master cylinder with no problem. I am running that setup right now. That being said, yes, the pedal feel would be nicer with a 22mm master, but the 20mm will work also.
I only ask because Ive been running this set-up for 2 years now. And its a minimal change, if not the same, effort to push the pedal...But the car is alot more controlable when braking than it was with the G60 set-up. Personally I like it better than most high performance set-ups for braking and feel...but it could stand to lose a few hundred lbs from the calipers.
I was actually using the C carriers and 11rotors with my G/J calipers for a few months. I was waiting for my SS lines and pads, I didn't need to bleed the brakes.
I have the 54's on my mk3 jetta 2.0, great upgrade.
The dual piston calipers seem like a great upgrade, and in theory they are, but the actual difference in stopping power between them and the corrado single piston calipers isnt noticeable. The extra unsprung weight of the dual piston caliper is also a drawback.
