I replaced mine two years ago, both rotors and pads front and rear, with VW parts purchased from VWpartsvortex. As I recall, they were not Brembo, probably ATE. I spent a total of $718 on the set, which seemed reasonable considering the rotor size and how long they last. So far, the new ones are performing very well. As an aside, a few years ago I replaced the rotors with Brembos on a Subaru and was disappointed: the front ones warped almost immediately. The bottom line, I'm afraid, is that it is no longer enough to rely on the brand, especially if sourced on the secondary market. At least with "VW" marked parts the reputation of the vehicle manufacturer is on the line, though even that may not be enough to ensure high quality.
I'll add that I have used ATE rotors with this coating before on the car before my current daily driver and have had good results here in the rust belt. That's why I bought from them again 4,000 miles ago for new fronts on my current car. As with anything, your mileage may vary. I'm sure one could do much worse or much better for daily driver front brake rotors.
Just did a brake job for my Accord (painted calipers, new Centric Premium rotors, new Akebono Performance pads, new hardware, fluid, etc.).
Plain Centric rotors have served me well, too.
I went with the Centric Rotors and Power Stop Pads, it has been good so far. Had to replace them at 26k miles as well.
Just put Centric rotors with RS-R pads on the front. Great combo, doing the rears when it warms up with the same combination.
I upgraded my front rotors and pads when they needed to be replaced last year. He recommended solid (non drilled/non slotted) rotors to avoid cracking. My braking distance was *much* shorter after the swap.
I went with Centric/Stoptech blanks when I replaced the worn out rotors on my R32. They've been just fine. It was a swap to Hawk HPS pads that made a HUGE difference.
Some of the best cost effect rotors on the market are Centric Premium rotors, they make most of the OEM rotors in the auto market (even Brembo too) but you won't pay for the brand name on them.
Both brands of rotors are made by the same vender. Ive used both and there is no difference. ATE is another story,dont ever buy ATE,oem replacement crap.
