Brake discs ATE or EBC
get aome ATE powerslot rotors, and some hawk hp or HPS or HP+ pads, which ever u think will work...and you'll have stopping power..big time.
its pretty normal for our engines, that's one of the reasons why we change our oil every 3-4k miles. if it ever becomes much more than usual, you could be looking at a leaky seal in your HPFP or the like.
I already have the ATE Premium One rotors and Hawk pads on my 1982 Caddy. They don't have the initial bite but are good once they heat up, but still require adequate pedal pressure to ensure an emergency stop. The ATE Premium One rotors are great especially in the rain because they absolutely have that initial bite.
Look for some brembo or ATE rotors from an OE supplier
Re: (rhouse181) Quote, originally posted by rhouse181 \u00bb that bearing shattered... it didn't wear due to poor or inadequate lubrication. looks more like manufacturing defect, the outer layer on the bearing shell delaminated and rolled around for awhile. sorry to say this, but that crank is toast... i would start searching for a good used one out of a wrecked motor. this.
I've had EBC dimpled/slotted rotors with red stuff pads and they work pretty well. They are kinda noisy during braking but aside from that I haven't had any issues. The red pads are amazingly low on brake dust too
Hawk HPS with the rear pads almost worn & the front pads were about 70% worn---new rotors all around. Just for kicks, I decided to get ATE Slotted rotors, tyrol caliper bushings & a fresh fluid flush....
When I changed the original rotors on my Jetta they required a hell of a fight to get them off. I put anti-sieze on the hub to ensure that would not happen again. When I changed them this past weekend, the rotors came off no problem at all which was nice.
I just bought and am DIY installing a set of Ate PremiumOne discs and pads for the front on my wagon. They've got a coating similar to the original rotors - I'll report back once I get 'em on.
I am getting ready to do my brakes, rotors and pads. Mintex Red on all 4 corners and ATE slotted up front and OEM on the rear. Car shakes pretty badly when applying the brakes at 65 mph or higher...warped.
