A friend got quoted too much for a brake job while I was visiting out of state and they were only going to turn the rotors. So, I volunteered to do the job. All I had was the spare jack and tire iron. I bought a set of wrenches and a cheap c-clamp from HF to do the job. Yup, sure have a ton of the right tools at home. This just got-r-done. Buttery smooth brakes with new Centric rotors!
Just bought the Centric 125 plain high carbon rotors for front and rear with the Hawk HPS 5.0 front pads and Hawk Ceramic rear pads. Highly recommend this setup. Noticeable improvement for street driving only, I just cruise fast sometimes, no track time.
centric blank rotors and then either OEM pads or i went with the Hawk HPS 5.0 which was a nice upgrade over stock.
for the street I've found the basic RockAuto/Centric shit to be perfectly fine. Even basic Centric blanks can handle track use at (admittedly pathetically low) stock power.
Centric blanks. You don’t even need cryo treatment unless you’re doing autocross.
Rockauto sells I believe Centric rotors which have good reviews on the various LS forums I've seen, and they're cheap!
Centric 120 Rotors and PosiQuiet pads should run about $240 in parts shipped (front and rear).
Today I actually saw a car where the wheels had fallen off. I had to dodge a brake disc in the road lol.
I have centric rotors, stop tech brake pads and SS brake lines and it is 100x more responsive than stock. Best decision ever!
have drilled and slotted rotors for it with pads not installed, only problems are it needs the new brakes installed the current ones are warped
