Brake discs R1 Concepts or OEM Honda
I’ve ran the R1 concepts D/S with OE Pads, steel lines, MOTUL 660 fluid. I’ve got them pretty hot on mountain road runs many times, no issues.
I just installed front axle drilled and slotted rotors, and new pads, all from R1 Concepts, and total cost shipped (Amazon) was $56. Tax, delivery, shims, everything but silicone grease.
Got a 2017 lancer and did the R1 concepts. Good results after only the first two weeks. Mind you! I had two seized calipers in the back and had to replace those as well. What is stated about drilled rotors is true about the cracking if you’re using them aggressively, I bought these specific ones because I read they have the better rating out of most and since I’m using them in the winter I’m not concerned with them getting too hot to crack (please correct me if my logic is not correct) but I assumed that since the vehicle was primarily being used for cold weather it would be best to go with a more reputable brand for safe stopping power.
honda or toyota. civic, accord, camry, corolla, avalon.
parts and service are cheap. not much goes wrong. i had a 08 civic lx from 50k miles to 150k miles. only thing i had done were brake discs and ac replacement.
Got the R1 concepts for the rotors and pads. Impressed by the braking power
I have R1 Concept rotors with the Powerstop Z26. Great combo.
I upgraded our outback and ascent to the R1 concepts and haven't had any warping issues yet.
finally got r1 concepts put on about 5 days ago. drilled and slotted rotors. SMOOTH like butter
Installed new r1 concepts drilled and slotted rotors. After break-in, I noticed a clicking sound from both front rotors, resembling a wheel of fortune. The sound happens when a pad is in. The r1 concepts rotors are dimple instead of drilled all the way through, unlike my previous Power Stop rotors. Brakes feel great otherwise, but this pesky clicking noise when I have windows down will drive me nuts. I may go back to Power Stop.
as of now it's still got the OEM ones on the rear (and I failed to notice that they'd begun to warp due to already having swapped the front brakes back in August).
