Brake discs R1 Concepts or Raybestos
Element3 rotors are A++
I've had great luck with Raybestos Element 3 rotors..
Ive got r1s on 3 of my cars and love them. Put out a decent amount of brake dust so either learn to live with it or youll be finger banging your wheels to keep them clean. Working on set #2 on my camry, lasted about 40k miles but i drive hard. Handled well thru the mountains
For rotors, you’re lighting money on fire if you get anything other than a set of non coated blanks. You aren’t going fast enough, or running long enough sessions to get them so hot that you need drilled and slotted in an attempt to drop every degree you can off the heat sinks, especially if you aren’t pushing for the full session. A quick browse on RockAuto shows that the cheapest drilled and slotted is just under x3 the price of a Raybestos blank. You can warp a set every weekend and still be way ahead (I promise you won’t warp a set every weekend unless you’re abusing the brakes).
Raysbestos Street Performance rotors are excellent. They are high-carbon and better able to manage heat and resist warping and cracking than ordinary grey iron rotors.
I went with R1 Concepts for the front..thats with slotted and drilled rotors and pads and im happy with them. I've run them about 6k miles so far and no issues.
I was more than happy with my R1 Rotors at Sonoma 2 weeks ago. I felt a bit of pulsing when I got the brakes especially hot, but I never had any real fading.
Raybesto Elemental rotors. You wont have to deal with rust on the hats anymore.
Installed new r1 concepts drilled and slotted rotors. After break-in, I noticed a clicking sound from both front rotors, resembling a wheel of fortune. The sound happens when a pad is in. The r1 concepts rotors are dimple instead of drilled all the way through, unlike my previous Power Stop rotors. Brakes feel great otherwise, but this pesky clicking noise when I have windows down will drive me nuts. I may go back to Power Stop.
I got those Raybestos Element 3 rotors and they immediately warped. I didn't bother buying anything else, but just had them turned and they are good enough now.
