Brake pads Akebono or ATE
Just did my wife’s Lincoln MKX. Pads were Akebono (Amazon or Walmart online) and about $130 for both axles. Rotors were $320 for all four, I bought through advance auto and offered 20% off for online orders which brought it down to that. First set took about an hour figuring out the set up. But after that 30 minutes per brake set taking my time.
I used ATE ceramic pads on my mk7 pp and so far they are great. Barely any dust, no noticeable wear on the rotors after 3k miles, and no extra pedal pressure required.
I put on new oem front rotors and Akebono ceramic pads and it’s like im driving a different car. No more sloshing noise in the morning and almost no dust on my wheels. Those oem pads are trash, for 100$ the Akebonos are fantastic.
Akeboro Pads + ZimmerMan Rotors
I noticed a significant reduction in brake dust on my wheels after i switched to power stop drilled and slotted paired with akebono pads
akebono has my vote over TRW. They produced the least amount of brake dust and good bite.
Akebono pads have been great for us, long life, no noise, very little dust, I don’t notice a difference in braking compared to stock
power stop cross drilled roters and akebono brake pads. Got rid of the brake dust with these.
I use Ate pads on mine, they feel great and have lasted fairly well but dust like CRAZY.
Depends on what you mean by 'best'. I own a repair shop, and have had the opposite experience with Akebono. IMO, they're junk. They don't stop worth a damn.
