Brake pads Akebono or Bosch
In comparison to the stock setup, the Bosch QuietCast pads and rotors aren't as touchy or responsive. They do require a little bit more pedal travel for normal stopping power. However, they do offer more precise control over how much power is applied throughout the pedal stroke. They are also incredibly quiet and smooth.
I upgraded to the akebono pads, and blank rotors. I have been satisfied, and would recommend this combination
You also absolutely can not go wrong with Akebono, that is also top quality stuff.
I have Akebono ceramic euro pads on my S-Class and absolutely love them. They last, great stopping power, and literally no dust!
Example: Akebono makes Hondas brake pads, buying the OE set is around $145, straight from akebono is around $60.
I had her order Advics rotors and Akebono ceramic pads and no issues since.
I've been doing my own brake job for a while and have used Bosch QuietCast rotors and Bosch QuietCast Premium Disc brake pads, both purchased from Amazon. No complaints.
Just replaced all four brake pads and rotors on my 2018 MZ3 hatch with 46,000 miles. Used Bosch quiet cast brake pads and rotors. Paid around $350 for parts and took me around three hours.
Since acquiring my A6, it’s had everything done in dealer. I recently got my brakes done by a friend who has a shop near my job. However, doesn’t mention that he slapped Akenono pads on the car. These Akebono pads are spanking new and they’re sooooooooooooo loud. I drove it around for a week or so, sound is still there. Took it back to him, he “sanded” something and now the car makes a god awful squeak/groan when lightly applying the brakes lmao. What’s crazy is that I’ve used Akebono in my E46 and my Mini and never had this problem. Anywho, the car stops perfectly, just fucking loudly lol.
Will they fit? Probably. But without the slot you can't use the anti-rattle springs. I purchased a set of Akebono's from ECS a few years ago and ended up sending them back because they don't fit as the car was designed to work (if that makes sense?).
