Brake pads Bosch or Hawk Performance
Looking at the choices available for yours, good pads that won't break a budget I'd go with Bosch QuietCast.
I use Hawk HPS 5.0 all around nice upgrade over oem.
Hawk HPS or HPS+ pads (I don't remember which I put on my R) but those were a great bang for your buck. They require a little bit more heat so I always get on them a little harder the first few braking efforts but once they are up to temp - Incredible IMO.
I have a set of track pads for my 2015 STI. Hawk dtc70 in the front. Hawk dtc60 in the rear. I swap them the the day before its a pretty quick job with the brembos. Very loud on the street when cold though.
Just put on new rotors and Hawk pads. Thought I had some squeaking/squealing/grinding because the old ones needed replacing but the problem persisted on the new rotors and pads even after some time.
Last week I applied some Brake Parts Grease that came with my Hawk pads to the pins and bracket on the caliper. It seems to have removed the annoying squeak!!
If your just daily driving the car, with some spirited back road runs, Hawk HPS 5.0 should do the trick. Low dust, low noise, good bite, and consistent performance.
I put hawk street 5.0 pads on mine a few months ago. They are good, def better than oem.
Hawk HPS pads are a massive performance improvement over stock pads, with a more linear break feel (aka less initial bite). low dust, low noise, highly reliable.
I installed new front brake pads (Bosch quietcast 621) and they squeal when I'm driving with them. It doesn't seem to be generating a crazy amount of heat or wear but it's really annoying. So it turned out it was the clips that came with the pads. When I installed the new pads I didn't pull out the tab on the bottom clips. Driving with the new clips damaged them so they were no longer usable. I took the pads off and put the old clips on properly and the sound was gone.
Has anyone else experienced crazy dust from their Hawk HP+ pads? These wheels were clean at the start of the day, and what you see above is after 6 47 second runs.Advertised as low dust, I find it hard to imagine this is what they mean by that. Under hard braking, you can literally taste the dust in your mouth, and the car had a thin film over it. I reached out to Hawk 9 days ago asking for some clarification but have been disappointed not to hear back from them at all. Not impressed with the customer service, nor with the brake pads. They bite great, but the amount of dust im getting is insane.
