I would recommend going with Mintex Redbox brakepads for your car because they produce significantly less brakedust than the VW brand pads from the dealership, and cost less!!

My brakes on the front went at around 30K. I bought Zimmerman crossdrilled rotors, stainless brake lines, Mintex pads, and new fluid for all four wheels. I had the local Midas shop do the complete install for $200.

I had Ferodo pads on an earlier VW and really liked them. Now I have Mintex on this car and they are have better feel than the stock pads and make MUCH less dust.

I got the mintex pads about a week after I got new wheels. I couldn't stand washing them every other day. If you're looking for low dust content, the mintex work really well. The disadvantage is that the pedal feel isn't as nice as stock.

I upgraded to Mintex redbox pads and ATE Powerdiscs on the car (Golf GL). After about 1/2 year, the pedal started vibrating - warped discs, I assume. Also, the brakes seem to lock up relatively easily.
