EBC Brake pads

Many folks here telling you to run hawk HPS but I WOULD NOT if you’re dailying. EBC yellow stuff, in my experience, stop better, are less noisy, but do produce a bit more dust. I purchased hawk hps when I had to replace my previous set of yellow stuff. Drove on them about 500 miles (at most) and ended up taking them off. They’re sitting in my garage with 95% life left. As for rotors, I currently run EBC drilled and slotted rotors. Last time I ran the EBC OE replacement rotors and they worked well too. Lastly, you want a little more bite than stock but less dust and noise than the EBC yellow stuff or Hawk HPS then go for EBC red stuff. I’m not biased at all with EBC, I am just talking from my experience as I’ve owned both highly recommended pads. I would never buy another pair of Hawks again.

Pros: stop better, less noisy
Cons: more dust
Mileage: 500 km

Mine makes brake noise also, swapped the front pads over to EBC greens and it’s quiet now. Sad that VW says that was normal on my 2021 SEL R Cross sport. Brake pad change was easy.

Pros: quiet now, easy change
Cons: brake noise
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I kept stock rotors and just upgraded the pads to EBC RedStuff. From my internet searching, I determined that rotors weren't worth it unless I planned on tracking the car, which I don't. Someone else mentioned noise in comparing Red vs Yellow, and that was part of what swayed me toward Red (I think Red also has a longer life and/or less dust).

Pros: longer life, less dust

EBC Brake pads

I ran ebc yellow stuff pads on my civic. Would recommend the street version which is green I think. OEM rotors are fine, no need for anything fancy.

Pros: good stopping power

So far I've ordered EBC Yellow Stuff pads (I've heard mixed reviews but the best alternatives seemed to be ~$500 a set so these will have to do)

Pros: cheaper alternative
Cons: mixed reviews

Prior to a long roadtrip a few months back, I decided to swap a slightly more aggressive rotor/pad combo onto my car. Nothing crazy, just a bitier pad and more durable rotor. Having always been a Bosch/Brembo guy, I decided to try out EBC, as its apparently a pretty sporty setup to run. So no big deal, I order the set, I pop them on, I break them in, and I go on about my business --> or so I thought. I don't know if this is an EBC exclusive feature or what, but the brake dust is atrocious. This stuff sheds itself more than a housecat coughing up balls of hair. It was only about 750 miles into use that I started to experience horrendous vibrations from the actual pads and rotors depending on the temp of the brakes and how hard I'm pressing. Its not a 'traditional' warp, but rather most certainly just huge build-ups of pad sediment, as these vibrations are intermittent. Anyone else have experience with EBC's? I've done about 5K on them and they're honestly pretty sh*t in my time with them. Likely going to go back to Bosch. Here's images of the dust collection only about 100-200 miles after I cleaned them. Seriously, whats the deal?

Pros: more durable rotor, bitier pad
Cons: atrocious brake dust, horrendous vibrations, build-ups of pad sediment
Mileage: 5000 km
