Brake pads OEM Porsche or Tesla
I'm at 71k on the original pads for my 2021 Model 3. I dont seem to go through pads quite as fast as some people.
Still on the originals at 110K miles on my 2016 Model S, plenty of wear left.
my 2015 Model S is still on the original brake pads, never had an issue, and I'm at like 125k miles.
Several teslas, both S and 3, and never had to replace them. I got used to one pedal driving. My 3 has almost 60k and brakes are almost new.
2014 MS P85D 102,000 miles still on factory pads and rotors.
I have about 50k miles on my 2018 M3. Pads still seem to have plenty of life left.
brakes on a cayman are pretty straight forward. DO NOT reuse the caliper mounting bolts they are one time use bolts. Also do yourself a favor and spend the money on factory brake pads and rotors.
It's not hard at all. One thing you want to watch out for is that Porsche is adamant about not reusing the bolts that hold on the caliper, so make sure you order a fresh set.
What type of maintenance do they need? Can you get parts for them (say brake pads) easily?
I just dropped $5500 fuckin dollars on my 19 X Performance for brakes and suspension at the service center. Had some ugly noises going on but I was floored when they gave me the estimate. I went 90k on my Prius before doing the brakes and that’s w waaaay less regen! So pissed. The estimate was actually $7500 w tires, stupid fuckin 22s - someone please learn from my mistake and don’t get those god awful heavy wheels!
