Brake pads R1 Concepts or JURID
I was also looking at these. The price looks great!
I switched over to R1 Concepts rotors and ceramic pads and haven't had to clean brake dust since ????????
Good braking, squeak free, low dust. The OE pads are great. They have good initial bite, no noise, high quality but they are semi-metallic so they make a bunch of dust. There are ceramic pad options that are low dust but they can be squeaky and won’t perform that great until they are warmed up. And of course you can get bargain bin organic pads which will have low dust but won’t perform nearly as well as stock. It’s a trade off no matter what. I went with the OE Jurid pads. I’d rather clean my wheels than lose braking performance or deal with noise. Also keep in mind that the rotors matter with noise and dust too.
Did my own with R1 Concepts E-Line pads and rotors. Bought my own parts kit seperate since they don't include them like some brands do. After 40k miles on them, I'm still going strong and will go another 20k before I evaluate their shape. I have slotted and drilled rotors, and you can visibly see the wear on the rotors, the pads are still going strong. As for stopping power I'd say it's average or OEM. No rust after 2 years on them thanks to the coating on the rotors. The surface does rust lightly after a rain storm, but they're clean after driving and braking.
I did use r1concepts house brand ceramic brake pads in my most recent brake change and I like them overall. I do not track my vehicle but maybe some spirited driving here and there
I'm running the JURID pads, too, and I'm at a little over 13k miles. No issues whatsoever...
They were super friendly and helped me get the best brakes for my Suburban. They literally made the brakes specifically for me and I picked them up a few days later. Definitely a quality product, too.
New rotors and pads without breaking in at all, just normal driving as soon as changed. Pads lasted 30.000km ish, while rotors wrapped at about 40.000km ish (pads replaced at 30k with same R1 concepts). Brake feel and performance was OK, but much worse than when broken in. Light squeal at about 15.000km and onwards. New rotors and pads following break in procedure, 10 stops from 90km/h (55mph aprox), never coming to a complete stop, then driving 30 minutes never coming to a complete stop, rolling to a stop on neutral and waiting another 30 minutes. Pads lasted about 40.000km ish, rotors lasted 80.000km ish, pads replaced at 40.000km with same R1 concepts ceramic.
When I picked her up, I was told my front and rear brake pads are all down 1mm already. At this rate I’ll likely need to replace them around 15k. I thought this made sense for the front pads since they’re the JURID high performance ones, but the rears being worn that much seemed strange. I don’t drive fast/brake hard/etc, never track, or do anything otherwise that should wear my brakes prematurely.
Volkswagen uses Jurid and Pagid Black compound brakepads as OEM on our Passats. The problem is that these pads take a very long time to correctly bed into the brake rotors. If these pads aren't bed correctly, over time they will wear unevenly on the rotor which causes vibration. That vibration is what causes your brakes to squeal!!
