Brake pads STOPTECH or ENDLESS
For mixed street and track use, I haven’t found a better pad than Stoptech 309. Lots of dust, but no noise on the street and they will take an absolute beating on track (for a street pad). Great modulation at mid temps, low and high temps are acceptable.
Stoptech street performance (I believe renamed to Stoptech sport) has always been my go-to for spirited driving and track day use in a miata. In faster heavier cars, I use carbotechs for track days, but that's just overkill for a miata.
Stop tech sport brake pads have been great to me.
I replaced them both with stoptech pads and rotors. Good quality and price.
I run Stoptech 305s and they exceed my expectations
I did Stoptechs in the front and Golf R rears, I canyon carve in it and the brakes are legit. Heavy, heavy repeated braking, no fade.
Stoptech Street pads for the Akebono brakes. I've only got 16k miles on them and they still look new, despite having drilled & slotted rotors. I do heavily downshift and engine brake, which explains the lack of wear. I'd buy them again as they're quiet, but they do produce a fair amount of brake dust.
I switched from oem to EBC slotted rotors and StopTech "Street" pads about 20k miles ago. I won't be switching back. Firmer and more immediate initial bite, more consistent brake feel, and no brake fade even when carving up the canyon. This with good lifespan for the pads, zero noise, and low dust. I do have to be mindful when braking in traffic though, as the pads took about ten feet off of my 60-0 stopping distance and the performance tires a few more, and I don't want to end up wearing the vehicle behind me. I have a '16 sedan and only changed the front brakes out.
If you are dead set on not getting some Napa golds or whatever grab some Stoptech Steet pads. They are dusty as hell and wear pretty quick not in stop and go city traffic. I live in the sticks so lots of highway and running the stoptech steets on my Gx sedan they dust up bad and I swap them every 35k~. I do have the sport brake kit on it but I don't see the base calipers making much difference on dust and wear.
I put stoptech pads on my 2011 hatch and they have been so beyond noisey they have been driving me insane. Gotta find something else to replace them with. Hope your experience is better!
