Brake pads Textar or Tesla
I did change my F30 with Textar and it was plug n play. No need to go big if you don’t go on track days often imo.
I beat the hell out of some OE Textars in 110+ heat at Buttonwillow and they held up admirably. You don’t need anything more for the street.
I always had good results with textar and Zimmerman.
I use all Textar disks and pads and they are excellent.
front brake pads (textar) for gti with performance pack, bolts, anti-squeal, grease; normally $70+
The rest (brake pads), I guess this is OEM but if you go to Sharjah and buy the parts yourself, I am confident you can get much lower prices, especially if you buy aftermarket such as Textar which is a OEM supplier.
The BIG difference is the brakes. In normal driving you're using one pedal driving, and this means two things. Firstly you're hardly ever using the actual brakes, almost all your braking in normal driving is through regen. Secondly because the regen braking is quite powerful, the actual physical brakes are relatively small. The brakes are great until they aren't, and they aren't great when you really need them.
I just had to do brakes and ball joints on my 2016 Model S (some rough roads, and calipers were seizing from winter corrosion, I live in the state of Maine, US). 100K miles, 160Kkm (160Mm?).
I replaced my brake pads with Textar pads and they are squealing so bad that it is embarrassing to drive it around town. If you are standing outside the car it hurts your ears. I had Porsche sand down the edges of the discs and this has helped a little but not to the point I am satisfied. Although the pads are only a month old I have decided to replace them with another brand.
I've had a lot of warranty repairs for my 2018 Tesla model 3: both sides for front upper control arms, both side rear suspension, a gear oil motor leaked, and an inverter. Paid out-of-pocket (not warranty) for both sides front wheel bearings, front brake rotors and pads, rear brake rotors and pads, front windshield, roof glass, and now paint and rust work around the fenders and rocket panels.
