Cabin filter Tesla or K&N
I’ve changed the oil in my Tesla zero times in 15k miles, but I did have to replace the windshield wipers, and cabin air filter.
I have bought and installed air and cabin filters from K&N. Perfect fit, washable and last years when cleaned properly.
Just picked up our second Model Y, had our first one for over a year and 20k+ miles and the only things it needed was tires (put new wheels and tires on), and cabin air filters change (took about 15 minute in my driveway).
Go for the K&N cabin filter and you'll never go back to those paper ones.
K&N cabin filter benefits:
* Reusable and washable.
* The static charge on the filter captures way more dust, germs, and bacteria.
* You can breathe better and less dust that makes it through your car vents.
Replaced cabin air filter w k&n high performance filter in prep for my 60k, car feels so much faster now. Butt dyno is reading 10+ hp gains!
Treat yourself to a washable K&N Cabin Filter. The filter and cleaning kit quickly pay for themselves. I clean mine every 6 months just cause.
A recent update fixed the issue with mine. I didn't smell it anymore for the last few weeks. I still had an appt with mobile service to replace my filters and they cleaned the evap core for free (paid for the filters) as well. Still no smell.
Replaced the filters myself (got them from the SC, $17 each, you need two). Still had the smell, took it in for other issues, and they comped the Kool it portion because I already changed the filters.
Every 6 months to a year you need to replace the cabin filter and clean the evaporator.
I've used them in past vehicles - in my opinion, not worth it. No amount of cleaning will truly remove fine particles that the filter captures. I'm more comfortable using cheaper disposable filters.
