Engine oil AMSOIL or Lucas
It looks like even with the mileage difference, Amsoil still outperformed in most categories. Pretty impressive.
I decided to make the switch to Amsoil Signature Series because I see people switch to it and report no oil loss.
I recently switched from Liqui Moly to Amsoil recently, my wife's Tiguan seems to run a little smoother and is noticeably quieter at idle with the 5-40 European car formula.
Amsoil is just an above average full synthetic oil. It's nothing magical. It has a higher than normal "Total Base Number", which is what allows it to go longer between changes without going acidic.
I use Amsoil 0w40 or Eneos 0w50 in mine. For sealing and shear resistance for metal to metal contact, thicker is better.
I run amsoil Signature 0w20.
I ended up returning the Castrol Edge 5W-40 and got AMSOIL European Car Formula 5W-30 Improved ESP Synthetic Motor Oil instead, which is VW Approved and 504 spec. Its quite pricey though, $180 CAD for 12 x 946ml.
Amsoil XL 5W-30 in my 2016. Swapped with a new OEM filter every 6K.
FWIW, I've run AMSoil in my 2003 WRX since new, and I like it. What actually sold me on it was when I did my first oil change. The used oil still feels new when you run it over your fingers. And the engine still runs just fine.
I'm one of those people that uses Amsoil. I use their European 5w40 and change the oil every 10K or 1 year, whichever occurs first. Never needed to add any oil between changes.
