Engine oil Castrol or OEM FORD
Running the OE Castrol 0w-20, pushing the car very hard up a twisty road in NC/SC, I saw a maximum of 235F with an ambient temp of 75F. My averages with normal driving are close to yours. These temps are well within the oil's capability.
i been using it religiously for now 85k miles, i have tried Quartz Ineo 5W30 502 Spec oils made my engine produce more heat and valvetrain noises. The Castrol Edge 0W40 I use now tops out at 212, normally sitting between 205 and 210. With the 5W30 Quartz it was constantly sitting at 227-237 which is pretty significant.
this oil is my most trusted, been using it since new with the best results ( i tried Mobil1 0W40 and a 5W30 Total Quartz once each and oil temps were 15-20 degrees hotter in similar ambient temps and conditions with both of those so i decided not to use them again).
They also have the 5qts of Castrol Edge 5w-40 for under $30. I've been running that in my cars since 2005.
Last change I did was with Castrol Edge 0w-20 no issues.
I've always run conventional Castrol 20/50 in my Gti's (past and current Turbo) without issue.
I red-line 1st and 2nd gear when merging onto highways from the on-ramp. But then cruise at 100 kmph on the right lane. Gotta have fun when you can! Ensure that **oil** temps are good, not just the coolant.
Castrol Edge 0W40 A3/B4 (European Formula), about 27$ per 5 quart jug at Walmart. Made in either Germany or Belgium. A real synthetic, Type-4 PAO based (no Type 3). Meets the strictest oil requirements from ze Germans.
12 Galant 2.4 always running Castrol edge 5w20 and oil filter change every 5k miles for like 60k miles now has 126k. Cars have never shut off or left me stranded or left any signs of hesitation.
I put mine in around 20k. The first change I did - it had 2 small metal shavings. I got very nervous. Ever since then there has been the powder you have in the pic above. Sometimes more sometimes less. The 2 times I have used Castrol I found more than other times (This could mean it protects less or that it carries the particles better than other oils). I will only become worried when I start seeing shavings. To me it's only an additional monitoring system. Like in a tranny - powder is ok, but shavings mean save up some cash. oh and my car is now at 125k.
