Engine oil Castrol or VALVOLINE
Change the oil and filter then I use valvoline vr1 10w30. Remember vw engines rely on oil flow, not heavy viscosity.
A3/B4 is a rating for just protecting the engine.
Castrol edge 5w-30 LL is oil with just C3. So it's mostly for protecting DPF. If you have a diesel engine with DPF then this is a good choice. If not something else would be better.
I switched to synthetic after doing a piston soak. Sticking with synthetic here on out. I initially ran conventional Castrol 5/30 then blend as conventional was not available through Amazon and then synthetic to try to stave off carbon build up on rings after a successful piston soak.
I've been using Castrol Edge 5w-40 for years and have had good results, but wondering what others are using. I initially used Mobil1 0w-40 but got a lot of lifter noise which disappeared after switching to Castrol.
Castrol 5w30 high mileage performance, keeps the sucker in tiptop shape
My 25 year old Camry requires 5W-30 and I use Castrol Edge. I also put 1 litre of Castrol GTX 15W-40 oil into the mix - it's supposed to have anti sludge properties and also lowers the overall cost.
From my experience with a Toyota echo; does not matter the brand, only the type. My echo was a 10w40 semi synthetic. once she started consuming a little more oil, I was then just filling her up with any 10w40 semi synthetic I could afford. There was no difference of her running on Castrol vrs the mixed bag of what it ended up with, as I always put Castrol as my oil of choice for a complete change.
Have used a few brands, I think it’s running Castrol 5w40 right now.
I’m running basic conventional 10-30 Valvoline. Oil changes every 3500 miles. 185K miles, track if 5x a year
I will never use castrol again, stupid dark bottle is annoying and makes it hard to tell how much is left
