Engine oil LIQUI MOLY or Castrol
I run LM on my track car and it’s fine . Drive 2.5 hours , beat the living shit out of it, drive home no issues
For 10W-60, if you compare the data sheets of every one available the Liqui-Moly is the closest in spec to the original Castrol TWS that the engine was designed for. That's why I stick with the LM after BMW and Castrol parted ways. Been using it in my cars and clients for 10 years now.
I have 6500 miles since my last change and the oil still looks clear/clean. 2018 GTI, MT, 360HP. I get on the car hard at times with NO change in temp's.
Every BMW I buy used, 2 cans of molly flush and then Liquid Molly oil. You can feel the engine loosed up, quiet down and work great.
I've been running Liqui Moly in my cars. For me, it's reasonably priced, meets spec, and it seems to be generally well regarded from what I've read.
As an aside, all the oil used to be Castrol and has now transitioned to a VW boxed product produced by Mobil 1. THAT is the correct oil.
I've switched to Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 which seem to do better wrt oil pressure.
Using Rotella T6 synthetic 5W40 rated for turbo diesel. Lots of VW mkiv owners use it. Cheap from Walmart. Have been using Liqui Moly 5W40 as well but supplier is all out.
Try using 5w30 castrol from walmart black container with green writing, since switched been driving 2.7k with in 2-3 month oil on the same level
I'm running 5qt 5W40 full synthetic oil (Castrol Edge, to be specific). The oil is changed yearly cause I never get close to the 10k miles suggested by VW for an oil interval.
