Engine oil LIQUI MOLY or IDEMITSU
I have a 14 Passat. I do full synthetic LiquiMoly with the VW spec. I change it out every 6-6500 miles.
Liquimoly leichtlauf 5w40. Been told it’s a bit better than 5w30 in a 20+ year old engine due to being a bit thicker. Also does better at higher temps and I drive like a dick
Liqui Moly leichtlauf hightech 5w40. Because it matches the BMW LL-01 specification and was formulated to help with the sticky piston rings issue common to many german engines. Noticed lower oil temp under load and a gradual reduction of oil consumption
I have a Sohn kit and run Idemitsu engine oil in the engine and Idemitsu premix in the Sohn. Runs lovely and smooth and the original cat is still doing the job.
I run LM 5w-40 as recommended by my tuner.
I just do the liqui moly. Also I change my oil well before the BMW recommended 10k.
We use Idemitsu for engine oil and transmission and red line for front and rear diff. Red line makes a good fluid for the transmission also.
I often go for liquymoly or Motul 4t 10-w40 fully synthetic oil for my big machine.
LiquiMoly oil is the best. Top tec 6310 0w30 is what I use for the THP.
Ughh. How did I miss that! I thought I was just saving $5 a liter for the same thing. I am so annoyed with myself. :banghead: I just pulled up the specs for both and indeed the Synthoil has a viscosity index of 171 vs 180 for the Leichtlauf. Also the NOACK for Synthoil is 12.9% vs 10.0% for Leichtlauf. From what I can tell the 12.9% NOACK of Synthoil is what doesn't allow it to have the VW 502 00 approval.
