When I first purchased my 08 WE, I used M1 0w-40. I found I was using about 1/2 quart per 5000 miles. LM cut that down to about 1/4 quart per 5000 miles.
I use Liqui Moly/Lubro Moly Oil (German synthetic stuff), can be found in Napa Autoparts, ECS or Amazon for a very reasonable price. I use it in my Audi and have had no issues whatsoever.
If you want it quiet and smooth, run 10w-40. If you want best mpg or live in the cold 1/2 the year, run 5w-30. 10w-30 is a-ite in many cases. It'll burn less than 5w-30....generally.
I run VW. 502 Lubra-moly 5w-40 that my local NAPA special orders for me.
ran Total before but the 8v seems to like the Liqui moly more
Kendall hands down makes the best dinosaur oil..... I run it in my BMW 2002 and my 94 2.0 ....
