Engine oil Mobil or MOTUL
As long as the oil is VW 502 00 spec, it’s fine to use. I always go with either Mobil 0W-40 or 5W-40.
Mobil 1 Advanced in everything, with OEM filters... Use it in my Tucson, Mustang, Corvette, and Dodge pickup... Really, any quality full synthetic oil is fine.
Been using Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic since I rolled it off the lot. Zero issues. I do my own changes every 3-5k. I did swap out to the FL400s filter to make it an even 6qts.
I went back and forth between Mobile 1 and Amazon full synth for 140k miles without issue. Just change the oil every 5000-7000 miles
Mobil 1, Valvoline, or Motorcraft. Ive used them all and have no complaints so far, usually i use Mobil 1 since i can find the 6 qt box for a decent price at Costco.
I personally use Mobil 1. They all do basically the same thing if you're changing it often enough. I change mine between 3-5k miles typically.
I used the mobile advanced fuel economy, I live in a pretty mild climate. I have seen lots of people swear by asmoil it's supposed to be good.
From my own experiences, M1 is excellent. Been putting it in my 30 year old Celica for 7 years, gotten 160k miles out of it, 320k miles on the original motor in total. My buddy’s Corolla had a bad timing chain slap on startup, went dead silent ever since swapping him over to M1. I just stick to what I know.
My wife drove her 2008 Passat 2 miles per day for six years. As you can imagine, during these very short drives in winter, the oil became diluted - this was born from sever UOAs. So, I changed the oil every 1,500 miles and the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. Over-kill perhaps but based upon my personal expectations, worth the time and money. We used Mobil 1 0W40....which sheared to a 0W30 fairly quickly and stabilized.
I tried Mobil 1 15w-50 for about 15 minutes (literally!) in my 2.0 one time. The valve noise at startup was so bad I drained it immediately.
