Engine oil Mobil or RED LINE
I switched to Mobil 1 0w40 european formula in hopes of better protection and less consumption. I have 51500 kms right now. I will check mine every 1500km this next oil change.
Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 should be able to go longer-- but you need to get a Used Oil Analysis done, in order to determine if you can.
Speaking only for the 2.0T in our B7 A4...it burned nearly 1qt of Castrol Syntec 5w40 during a 5k interval. Before and after that interval I ran M1 0w40 for 5k, and it burned next to zero. Needless to say I'll continue to use the M1.
I have been running redline 5W40 since 5k miles in my 08 GTI and I noticed an immediate improvement in turbo spool up. Others have noticed this improvement on other turbo cars as well.
0w40 and 5w40 Mobil 1, both perform nearly identically from what I can tell. I think the car started a little quicker in the dead of winter when I switched to 0w40.
You should be ok I run Mobil 1 0-40w in my 120k 1.8t and I have no isues what so ever
i'm running the 0w-30 and it seems to have appeased my miata's normally (for all of them) ticky lifters. it starts better cold too.
I noticed M1 burns less then castrol, i might try redline and see. i am pretty happy with m1 compared to castrol thats for sure.
for the last year ive ran the pure one \"micron\" and a a soup of mobil one 5w30 with the lucas fully syn additive. nothing but happy driving. the tick has gone away with the mix, or so i think.
you can use the 5qt. mobile 1 full syntec, thats what i use, it works great!
