Engine oil Motorex or OEM BMW
I have always used Motorex. I have the same bike and 3 other KTM’s. Always Motorex. I know it is spendy but it’s very high quality
In my Shiver 750, Motul or Motorex every 3,500 miles were required to keep neutral findable when you want it and hidden when you don’t. False or impossible-to-find neutrals were a sign that it was time for an oil change.
I recommend checking your oil level at 3000 miles because some vehicles burn oil. BMW and Audi especially, at 1500~2000miles I will top off.
Use an oil designed for a wet clutch, like this [motorex 15w50]
Well I decided to try Motorex on my F800 GS, bought the 4T Top Speed full synthetic, in 15W50, boy I cant help it but recommend this oil, the gearbox is so smooth and silky.
BMW used to recommend you changing oil basically every time you blink, back when consumers paid for 100% of all maintenance. But in order to be more competitive, they began offering 3 year included free maintenance on all new vehicles.
I use motorex 30W in the air (or coil) side. The motorex is great stuff
Motorex 60:1 piston and rings go 180 hours with out issue, could go longer but i change it every winter, powervalve has yet to need to be seriously cleaned in 3 pistons.
I went with the motorex recommended oil. Worked great.
I paid $90 bucks for a full oil change the first time, using motorex. now for my 2nd change, she's getting Rotella T6 because it's cheaper. I put on too many miles a month to shell out $90 bucks every 3k miles.
