Engine oil MOTUL or Mannol
I been using Motul 8100 X-clean EFE 5W-30 Synthetic Oil and is working fine at the moment with OEM filter.
Motul x-clean plus. Less noise and softer engine run. I'm using it in all my TDI's and X5 35d.
Motul is cheaper than Petronas and it's a very good oil.
Best oil for me is Motul 8100 X-Clean 5W-40 C3, or Liquil Moly. 5W-40 because I got more hot climate here (Greece).
I would recommend Motul.
I’ve got Motul Sport 5W30 for my MY12 XV, which ain’t a turbo ofcourse????
But next time I’ll go for sport 5W40, as it’s better for long driving in temperatures like 30(+) degrees Celsius outside.
The Sport range is by the way also good again low speed pre-ignition.
I am currently using Motul X clean EFE 5w30 using it because it was Tuner/shop recommended by Dmann/Felix Performance who did change for me prior to a tune/dyno and I haven't switched back.
Any oil that meets the manufacturer's specification for your car will be fine. Mannoil 5W30 fully synthetic meets VW 502.00 and ebay sell 5L for about £17 - why pay more?
Definitely better well known brands out there for cheaper prices. Look at Mannol oil. Mannol served me well.
Personally I use 5w-30 because it's the cheapest. I've used 0w-20 and 0w-30 in the car also. Can't tell what is in the car at any given time as it runs exactly the same regardless so just use the cheapest that's still up to the relevant specifications.
It’s absolute trash, stop using it.
A little back story I just recently did an oil change in my ‘20 WRX, was using Valvoline full synthetic and decided to try out Motul, noticed my oil temps went up 4-6° and started doing some research into oil. Discovered that Motul ranks 177 out of 244 oils tested for wear protection, Amazon basics and Walmart ranked higher.
