Engine oil MOTUL or Pentosin
Pentosin High Performance is the right one to use. 5w-40 Pento High Performance 5W-40 is an especially formulated fuel economy engine oil. It is based on synthetic base oils only, the most modern and best engine oil additives currently available and a very shear stable VI - Improver. The combination of these exquisite components guarantees an excellent engine performance under the most severe driving conditions. Pento High Performance 5W-40 is ideally suited as an all season engine oil. Pento High Performance 5W-40 contains a special combination of very efficient fric-tion modifiers which cause the engine to run very smoothly. Even more important, it causes fuel savings in a recognizable way.
I would stick with oils like PENTOSIN/LUBRO-MOLY/CASTROL GERMAN/MOTUL/ This one is easy. Anything not made in the US and is 100% synthetic. I use Pentosin high performance 5w-40, 502/501/500 approved oil.
Yea I've used 5w40 syntec as well but seems like the dealerships in Canada are starting to use 5w30 and that I know for certain burns faster on my car. I'm not sure why the dealerships in Canada swapped over to 5w30 now but I always get Motul now. Although a bit more pricey, i intend to keep the car a long time
I also have a 2006 2.0T Jetta and I have similar oil consumption rates. Try changing the brand of oil you use. I know the dealerships use Castrol Syntec. To me, it seems as if they're not as "durable". I swapped over to ELF for a while and that helped, and now I'm using Motul and this seems to be the best. I think my car burns around 1-2 qts every 5000kms.
Does any one know which of those oils are ester based? I know Motul 8100 X-Clean 5w-40 is... Any others?
i run it in my vr, 5w 30, full synthetic, it's nice
I use motul in my vr. It's nice.
The 75K miles was tested on Motul 300V on stock internals equipped with a GT28R at the time. Prior to that I was using Motul 8100 5W-40 which I also liked
pentosin/pentosynth 5W40 here, changed it 1K miles ago (second run on this oil), great stuff ecstuning.com sell it for ~28 bucks for 5 liter. I like it much, much more over the castrol from dealership (used that too and after 2K miles changed back to pentsynth). I'm very happy with it.
I'm going to reach 5K miles soon and bought Motul 0W-40 oil.
