Take a quart of oil with, especially if you don't have reliable data on how much your engine burns. Check it occasionally and top off if needed.
Audi TTS from 2016 and depending on wether im driving comfortable to work in winter it can be 95-98c, pushing it hard in summer it goes up to 107-108c at times.
My S3 seems to be at 222F all summer when commuting, I think it gets near 240F after a good autocross run
Yes, it is good advice. When a new engine is breaking in, there is a lot more wear metals. It's not uncommon to see metallic flakes or shimmer in the oil during your first oil change. Parts wear/bed in. That's why there is a break-in period on almost, if not all new cars.
I did my first oil change at 1k miles on my BRZ; I saw a lot of metal shavings come out of the oil. The oil also had a metallic shimmer to it. This is totally normal, but I want to get rid of all of that so it is not circulating around the engine post-break in period.
My '15 Forester will burn a quart of oil every 1000 miles if I run 0w20.
I switched to 5w30 and it's all good for 5000 miles
I don’t drive my car enough to hit any of the reasonable mileage points. I change my oil yearly, roughly around the time it gets inspected. Might be overkill (last year the car moved 2k miles, the year before was 2.4k), but I figure the $80-85 I pay is worth it. My wife’s Q7 will be getting its oil changed every 5k miles. It’s a 3.0T supercharged and they love to eat oil, I’d probably add half the oil back just to make it to 10k.
I do every 5k (2013 S4)
I just change it every 3k as a maintenance think no one told me to. I'm just afraid of messing up my turbo if I waited to long.
2012 3.0tfsi turned out to be a mild hybrid as it burns 1l/5k km.
I have a slow oil leak (something like a quart every 1,500 miles). Dealer quoted just under $3,000 for the fix when it was 17 years old with 110,000 miles. I'll just buy the occasional quart of oil.
