Engine oil OEM Toyota or OEM Mazda
For [Naturally-Aspirated Skyactiv engines](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SkyActiv), it is highly recommended that you use Mazda's own(Idemitsu) high molly GF-5 0w-20. [Arguably it is one of the best oil for skyactiv engines](http://www.cleanmpg.com/community/index.php?threads/45295/#post-357910).
2014 3, 0W-20 full synthetic (whatever major brand is cheapest) from brand new, every 7500 miles.
170k, runs like a top, burns not a single drop between changes, compression and fuel mileage exactly the same as new.
My 2014 had 226K changed it at toyota every 10K no issues
I use Mazdas 5w-30 Ultra DPF. Mazda once said that this was the oil that they're using, so I guess what's used by mazda can't be too bad for the rex
I paid $15.85 per US quart for Toyota Genuine 0W8 oil in Canada.
Do it, new engines throw off a lot of burs and metal particulates before the parts get seated. I changed the oil on my 2023 venza limited at 950miles. Listen to the car care nut master Toyota tech who sez change the oil at first 1kmiles. He cuts open his filter after 1k miles and the filter is full of metal particles.
I just changed the oil in our new 2023 RAV 4 Prime at 1,000 miles, we have been driving in HV mode to run the engine for break in. I also sent off an oil sample, but have not received the results yet. I did open open up the oil filter and found some tiny bits of metal! At least the filter catches it. I have always changed the oil after the first 1,000 miles in our new cars (Toyotas the last 30 years). Also the dealer said every 10k miles but I always do it at 5k.
I feel it is a good idea to change the oil after the first 500-1000 miles.
I do this just in case something got left behind in the manufacturing process that I don't want circulating in the engine.
There is no guarantee this will make any difference in the life of the engine.
its really only an issue on track if youre running sticky tires. running 0.5-1.0qt overfill seems to be a decent solution on track
I used Toyota OEM oil twice and was disappointed by the way it changed color at less than 5,000 kms. Two different mechanics asked me if I had delayed the oil change. Since then I started using Synthetic 0W-20 and never had any complaints.
