Engine oil OEM Volkswagen or Lucas
Since I'm replying -- have noticed 0 oil consumption on my Mk8 in the last two years.
I like the Lucas ones personally.
I use an oil extractor on our 2016 Tiguan, my 2016 A4, and 2023 Arteon. All have done a great job and make an oil change an absolute breeze.
I have a 2024 Jetta S with the 6 speed. Mine used about a 1/4 of a quart of oil in the first 500 miles. I topped it off and it hasn't use any since, now at 5K.
I paid $67 for 4 qts of lucas full synthetic oil and a filter on Amazon and just grabbed an O ring from harley. Harley's oil is fucking garbage. Lucas, Amsoil, Motul & Mobil 1 full synthetic are all damn fine products.
My mechanic added a bunch of Lucas to the oil, which he said might at least quiet it down, and it did. It's quieter now, but I can still hear it at idle.
Vaguely remember having the oil and brake fluids changed for my 40k, and maybe a tire rotation.
This is not fine. VW oils like 502, 504, 508 and 511 are not typical oils. They have a different additive package and the viscosity is different, like the extended performance 5w30 is not the same viscosity as a 504 5w30. The 504 is thicker and is closer to a 40w.
I used the middle one on an old 200,000KM Porsche Cayman S that was burning oil. It made it worse, smoke started coming out of the engine when the oil cap was off and I felt like the engine would soon die.
