Engine oil Shell or IDEMITSU
I exclusively use rotella in my bikes. It's cheap and good oil.
I have maybe 60k miles on rotella t6 in various liquid cooled metric bikes. It meets the standards that yamaha requires and is way more available than yamalube.
I have used full synthetic Rotella T in my bikes for the last decade with no issues.
The oil was Idemitsu Synthetic 0W-20 with 12.5k miles on it. Once again, trace metals and flashpoint were within normal range. I also ordered a TBN to measure the amount of additive left and that showed there was still plenty of active additive remaining.
My 93 loved and my 94 loves Rotella T6 5w40????????
For the FA20, I like Rotella T6 Multi Vehicle 5w-30.
Engine runs super smooth with that oil.
I use rotella 5-40 in mine. It's really cheap for a full synthetic and I saw less oil consumption after switching. It's intended for diesel engines but I haven't seen any negative effects after using it for 60k miles. I usually change it around 4k miles.
I use Rotella 10-40w Diesel oil. works great.
I used Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 for a while (not cat AND Sohn installed) and it was fine.
In terms of oiling, get a sohn adapter so your apex seals aren't being lubricated with crankcase oil, and instead are injected with rotary-specific oil, like idemitsu.
