Engine oil Shell or OEM Volkswagen
Using rotella t4 btw.
Shell rotella t5 its valvetrain runs much smoother and quieter with a thicker diesel oil.
I only use Rotella T6 in all 6 of the cars at my house.
I've used Rotella T6 in literally all of my bikes since 2017 because it is cheap and has JASO MA2, it is deisel oil.
I've been running rotella t6 4w40 in my 81 cb750c for the past 15 years. I also use it in every other bike I own or have serviced and my 4 wheeled vehicles.
I use Rotella T6 5w40 in all my vehiciles. It's a quality oil that works well for everything I own from mechanical turbo diesel to motorcycles to big blocks.
I ran this exact oil in my late B5.5 1.8T, and it worked great, until some lady blew a stop sign, t-boning me and totaling my car. But it wasn't the fault of the oil, lol.
something you might consider is switching to Shell Rotella T6 5w-40.
you can find many testimonies to the benefits of using T6.
My 1.8t is currently filled with Rotella T6 and I swear its eating less oil now (or maybe I'm getting better with my heavy foot)
Rotella T5, since the T6 is a bit too expensive for a car that leaks. Also a purolator pure one filter. I am up in Northwest NJ. I change it when the HLAs get noisy. It was 4500 miles for the last one.
