Engine oil VALVOLINE or Shell
I see all these people shit talking the oil, but they haven't actually used it. I've used it, and it's great. I put it in one car (pontiac) with over 70k miles and it ran way better than with normal full synthetic. I got a 02 explorer with almost 200k miles, it was idling rough as hell. I thought it would need a tune up, spark plugs, ignition coils, oil change and air filter. One bottle later, started it up and it was almost silent.
Shell Rotella T6. It's marketed as heavy diesel oil, but it meets the exact same specs as mobil 1 full synthetic and just has some extra detergent like diesel oils do.
This oil in OG 9-3 that have the crankcase retrofit kits clean the entire engine very well after a few oil changes getting rid of and preventing any sludge issues. The oil even eliminated some nasty tappet noise due to low oil pressure in my 2002 9-3 after a few seconds when I bought it.
I just hit 19k miles on my 2017 390. I ride it like someone stole it. Also thousands of high revving miles on the highway.
I use nothing but Rotella T6 15w-40. It is really good oil and it is cheaper than almost anything else you can use.
Shell Advance Ultra - yung full synthetic. Mahal pero worth it. I change oil every 2.5k - 3k max.
I use Valvoline VR1 in my street car and whatever full synthetic that is on sale for my Taurus and Titan.
I have been using Shell Rotella T5 for decades in big v twins. Currently 1900cc Statoliner.
Just swapped over to Valvoline Restore and Protect in my N52 BMW daily driver with 215k miles. I drive a lot and am taking before and after photos inside the valve train. I have exclusively used Castrol Edge A3/B4 for years so I will have a true comparative.
Im with all these 5w40 rotella guys, just started running it in my 91 1500 with 145k miles with the 4.3tbi and she loves it, I notice a slight bump in oil pressure for sure.
I have a 2001 Forester L and I enjoy using Castrol Edge 5-30 during winter and Rotella T6 5-40 during the summer in Arizona.
i use valvoline 5w40 ...so those results arent so good?
