While I have a 6 speed, I just replaced the clutch in my car. I went with the single mass flywheel. There is no chatter. The pedal is extremely light and very easy to engage. I had thought about reusing the original flywheel and I'm glad I ordered the single mass because my flywheel had a lot of extra play in it when it was removed and needed to be replaced.

Pros: pedal extremely light, easy engage
Cons: flywheel had extra play

A single mass is a good replacement for the garbage DMF. you will get a lot more clutch chatter (especially noticeable idling in neutral), but a much more reliable part, and better rev response due to lower weight.

Pros: more reliable part, better rev response
Cons: more clutch chatter

VALEO Flywheel

I have the valeo smf kit and vr6 clutch on my 1.8t (different flywheel but same idea) They work fine, you just get a little more drivetrain noise and rattle at idle but no big deal. You might loose a little hwy mpg (.5-1.0) but no biggie

Pros: They work fine
Cons: drivetrain noise, rattle at idle
Vehicle: Volkswagen Passat

When I swapped in the gti 02q 6 speed, I just ordered an oem style gti FSI clutch kit with a solid fly wheel made by Valeo. I didn't opt for a lightened flywheel and really like the solid flywheel compared to the oem dual mass flywheel.

Pros: like the solid flywheel

Getting back to the original topic, I just installed the 2nd Valeo single mass conversion on my GF's TDI with 205K. The car was shaking like Michael J Fox, now it's as smooth as a Miles Davis solo.

Pros: smooth as a solo
Mileage: 329914 km

Bought this kit for my 337... after the slave cylinder went on it. Thumbs up on the kit overall, though some slight flywheel chatter... but had new poly mount inserts done on the tranny mount and dougbone mount.

Pros: thumbs up on the kit
Cons: slight flywheel chatter

I recently replaced the flywheel and clutch in my '09 135i with an exedy kit which ended up just being repackaged Luk components. The old one was also a Luk and identical to the new one. I think most "aftermarket" kits just repackage the Luk flywheels or machine their own single mass ones. Only had it for a month, so can't judge longevity.

Pros: identical to OEM
Cons: longevity unknown
Vehicle: BMW

Just thought Id stop by and update people about this question for any1 potentially considering this option. All I have to say is that unless it's a track car, do not go with any sort of single mass flywheel conversion, especially this one. If it originally had a dmf setup then replace it with a dmf setup. At idle there is an extremely annoying slight rattle/knock unless you press the clutch pedal in (separate trans from engine). It's definitely louder with ac turned on, also when shifting in certain gears at certain speeds, when letting off the clutch pedal, you will experience some grinding due to the inability to absorb the shock and pulses.

Cons: annoying rattle/knock, grinding
