Headlights Depo or Bosch
I never had an issue with my depo vento e-codes.
There's nothing wrong with the Depo smoked Vento e-codes. You just have to put a bead of black silicone around the edges where the glass meets the plastic housing for preventative watertight measures and they're fine.
DEPO are absolutely fine; they're not an OEM manufacturer for BMW, but they are for plenty of other brands so you shouldn't have the same concerns as you would with aftermarket rubbish. I've pulled them off scrapyard E30s before and they've been in better condition than the original stuff.
I'm happy with the quality, was a lot less than Hellas, been using them for 4 years with no issue, protected the lenses with film as they are glass, also fitted with HIDs
3 years with DEPO smileys. Euro spec H1. no fogging/condensation. The wiring at the back of the cap started to come undone but I hit it with a blob of hot glue and it was fine. Switched from H1 to LED bulbs, works great.
I own these and they are great! I converted my Z to an aftermarket HID kit with these headlights and they are top notch. Bright clean light output, bright turn signal. Basically a clone of the newer 350Z housings but they do get a little humidity when I spray water on them from washing the car. That's the only downside in my opinion. A little light does leak through the gray area around the projector because I guess the paint is a little thin. You only notice this with the headlights on staring at them super up-close at night. No one is going to notice this.
I just installed the Depo models: Overall quality is ok for the price I paid. I had to do some troubleshooting because the blinkers would not come on: 1. The female spade connector from the wire harness had to be crimped tighter so it made good contact with the male connector on the sides of the socket housing 2. And I also pulled the center contact inside the socket housing so it made good contact with the bulb once inserted. I like the light output compared with the stock headlights...now I just need to aim them.
The reason why the output is crappy is that even though the DEPO lights look pretty much the same on the outside, they basically just copy the original headlight design and don't do much at all with the actual optics, that's why even with your OEM bulbs the output still looks like crap.
See.. Depo light suck serious donkey d!@#.... Here is a pic of the cracking I was talking about. This only took about a year to show up. Notice how there's even 3M chip protecting film over the covers. Complete garbage.
I replaced my OEM headlights a few years ago with DEPOs (absolute crap) lights after an accident and the insurance wouldn't pay for OEMs. After a few years of degrading visibility (spiderweb cracks throughout the plastic covers/lenses and crappy reflectors to begin with) I'm tired of not being able to see at night. * NOTE * NEVER BUY DEPO LIGHTS guys.
