Headlights Depo or OEM Audi
I can buy an entire second hand car for the cost of an audi matrix headlight. I can see fine out of my classic headlight (€229 for complete brand new saab 900 headlight at r&d carparts). It is real glass so it never fades and a fresh bulb is litterally a couple cents.
Best option would be to get some capa certified headlights from depo on rockauto
Either Depo or TYC from rock auto will give you OEM look and performance without the OEM price. I replaced my headlights and corner lights with these 2 brands over a year and a half ago with no moisture or fitment issues.
Depo lights from rockauto. Good quality and look like oe
Though in my opinion, it's not the best looking Audi headlight. Although functionally/technologically inferior to this, my vote goes to B8 A4 HID headlights with that curved row of individual LEDs. It was characterful, and had exquisite design elements inside of it that worked in harmony with the lines that travelled around the car. Headlights in cars of that era were simple and boring and at best consisted of a round projector and another reflector for high beams plus indicators. B8 A4's HID lights were at a totally different level and shouted style and luxury. With these lights Audi started the game of DLR and using it as a design signature.
Just search for e-code headlights. I have Depo and they're fine, but not as nice as OEM Valeo.
Those HID bulbs are clip H1 housing type and the US style lights won't fit because they are twist 9005/9006 housing. You need the glass depo/zkw/bosch type to fit those H1 bulbs
that Depo crap isn't worth the work
don't spray ANY harsh cleaner on those Depo's. Soap and water only and make sure you put some kind of UV protectant after every wash. Depos are good until they aren't, you can search this on the GXOR main group page on FB to see what happens 8-12 months with Depo bc they use the cheapest and thinnest lenses which will yellow and get stress cracks from the sun and heat if you don't care for them. Don't let the honeymoon phase fool you, there is a reason why Depo's are significantly cheaper than OEM NOS. I had the same sport depo's on my 470, and after 2yrs they were trashed.
So I just bought some depo headlights to upgrade form my foggy oem ones. Went for a drive and the low beams seem decently placed, maybe a little high but somewhat dim output. The high beams unfortunately are in the trees and absolutely useless. I’ve used the adjustment screw on the back and I’ve run out of adjustment to bring them down. Photos added for detail. Not sure what to do at this point, disappointed to have spent 400 on lights that might not work out.
