Headlights OEM Subaru or Osram
I’ve got a pair on my mk6 tsi Just to answer you questions a bit quick:
1. Definitely, but you might need to swap the bulbs to LED as the ones I ordered came without. It gives a much better light than the original headlights.
I've swapped headlights and retrofitted on every car i've owned, mostly to HID's but for this car I went with the OSRAM's from europe. Yes, it's a little more expensive, but the performance and easy install was worth it for me.
These are hands down best upgrade for stock halogen headlights. Plug & play - no coding or pinning required.
Coming from my old 2005 Saab 9-2x Aero that had headlights that were opaque and yellowed and barely put out any light at all, these are literally like night and day. I dreaded night driving in my old car, especially if it was raining. It was like not having headlights at all. These ones on my Limited are like daylight coming out of the front of my car.
I have never in my life had such amazing low beams. These headlights are so good I swear they act like high beams. Been flashed 4 times. I’d buy the car again just for these headlights. The SRH are worth every Penny.
I bought two sets of aftermarket headlights to replace my halogen lights on my mk6 gti. 2nd pair were from “osram” and were much better than the spyders but still didn’t compare to stock as far as brightness goes. My advice, splurge on OEM replacement HID’s or keep them stock. If you are set on changing them I would highly recommend OSRAM. They are from Germany and made very well!
Last year I installed a new set of Osram LEDriving headlights in my '17 Golf SportWagen to replace the crappy stock halogen units. I ordered them from a vendor with Germany and they were not cheap ($1000) but totally worth it. The difference in light output is significant and they also look really sharp and modernize the front end of the car.
I bought a 3-year old (2021) Forester in January, and I have noticed the headlights suck, too. On a dark road, I need to use the brights to illuminate any kind of meaningful field of visibility, and even then it’s not great.
My final complaint is the very visible outline of the cameras in the headlights. This was hyped to me as another safety feature — that the headlights turn ahead of the car as you turn. I barely notice this. But I notice the weird camera shadow outlines every time I drive at night. All
of this is extremely distracting and dangerous.
I have a 2024 Outback Onyx. The headlights are super bright and I'm always getting flashed as though I have my high beams on when I don't.
