Oil additives LIQUI MOLY or Lucas
Lately, I’ve been diligent about using Mobile 1 synthetic instead of generic oil and have done some changes like buying top-tier fuel, 87 octane, which has detergent in it. I’ve gone so far as to do some fuel additives like Techron and have added LIQUIMOLY to an oil change.
I also found there oil additives good when I had my 11 year old MK6 just felt smoother when I started using it
I have used it for the last few oil changes on my N55, can say it did seem to make the valve train a little bit quieter to my ear, and did see a small decrease in oil temperature, but I also did switch from 0w30 to 5w40 with the additive.
Been using this plus Liqui Moly Ceratec in my 2001 BMW E39 for the last 12 years (118,750 Miles) and it stoped my oil burning (1 qt every 15 hundred miles) to almost 0.
Night and day for VW guys. Makes the ea888.3 silent and stops it consuming oil. If I don\u2019t run MOS2 my 160k tuned example sounds like a can of nails on cold starts.
Using 10W40 Mos2 from Liquid Moly in my M42 and M44 engines since a few years. First time i used it was when i replaced the oilfilterhousing gasket. And o Boy did the engine smooth Out a Lot.
Not a BMW owner, but it completely eliminated oil consumption in my 100K mile Volkswagen EA888Gen3 engine. One quart was disappearing every 1500 miles or so. Now the dipstick doesn't change at all between 5K mile oil changes. I add it with every other oil change to Mobil1 5W-40 Euro.
I’ve had great luck with Liquid-Moly additives to reseal & decrease oil consumption. Really great product. Doesn’t work for everything, but it’s worth a shot.
That might just molybdenum in the oil.
Moly is basically flakes of metal and appears glittery.
Some oil has a significant amount of moly. Liqui-Moly MoS2 additive has lots of molybdenum and has caused owners to panic.
I added Lucas to my Hemi Durango and it f*%ked it up….for real!
