Oil filter Fram or Motorcraft
I use Motorcraft Full Synthetic (or Castrol Edge Full Synthetic). The oil filter is Motorcraft OEM. Everything gets changed every 5,000 miles.
Motorcraft filters use a silicone anti drain back valve ADBV. Cheapos use rubber ones that get hard in the cold and don’t seal. If they don’t seal oil leaks out of the hydraulic chain tensioners and they aren’t pressurized when the engine starts, so the chain isn’t tensioned and it rattles for a second against the plastic guide before oil pressure comes back.
I don't understand why people are giving you a hard time for using FRAM, these filters in specific are actually pretty good and I've been running them myself for the past 40k miles (I only use them for 5k miles, though) without any issues.
It's fine. I just grab Fram TGs for ours as they're common and good for two OCIs and I never need a wrench. Rated at 15k minimum and I put 13k on them and Blackstone says I'm good.
Subaru filters are made by Fram/Honeywell, Supertech filters are made by Champion.
Fram is junk. Stick with OE/OEM.
No, fram is the worst possible oil filter brand. They are restrictive, cheap, Chinese crap. I've seen them come fresh out the box with gaps in the metal. I've seen videos of people cutting open un used filters and finding surface rust.
Say no to fram filters. Keep this junk far away from your engines. OEMs like Mann or Hengst are cheap enough.
Fram is junk anyway
The cheap-ass Fram (and parallel quality) filters will split right open.
