Oil filter Fram or OEM Honda
I have been changing it every 2800 to 3000 miles with Mobile Clean 5000 (10W30) and Fram filter.
the grey Fram Tough Guard is an AWESOME product. It takes the really silly Fram XG to beat it.
I use Castrol GTX and OEM Filter (15400-PLM-A02) in my 96 Civic (leaks oil..)
In my Integra I use Mobil 1 and currently OEM Filter (15400-PLM-A02). I've looked into the HAMP filters before, but I can't really justify the price. I've used OEM on my cars for thousands of miles with no problems.
Mobil 1 or Catrol pure synthetic, whichever is cheaper, and a fram filter. have used that combo for 20k miles on the rsx type s, used to use quaker state on the old B18B integra, fram filters, got that thing from 25k miles to 150k miles on that combo.
With synthetic oil do you need a fancy filter? Since I change them very religiously, I wouldn't think it would matter. I use the FRAM filter (standard size).
i had the same issue, when i changed to an OEM oil filter, (not a Fram as the original owner) the problem went away...
ive been using that fram filter since my girl got her '94 2.0 jetta and i thought it was the oil pump about to go... her oil light only goes on when shes driving slow but she'll downshift and once it goes up in rpm's the light goes off...
I have a 94 ABA 2.0L Jetta. Changed the oil and installed a ph2870A filter, took it for a drive and the buzzer would come on. The oil light come on..and at certain point at 4k rpm a 90miles under light load...flat road the light would come on...and then go off..
every fram that ive used in the past was ng. most oil filters use a filter made of cellulose. mobil1 oil filters use synthetic fibers. those cellulose filters swell up and limit oil flow.
I used 4 or 5 for the first few changes on my honda Civic SI with a turbo, and half caused oil lights and pressure spikes or drops... switched to MOBILE1 or K&N and no problems.
